About

“Atalaya”, as it is known by the locals, is a riverside wonderland that lies just south of Aguas Corrientes, Canelones – an hour north of Montevideo. In the past, Atalaya was a botanical reserve and a tourist destination. We’re experimenting with organic gardening techniques, eco-wise construction, and energy collection from the sun, wind and water. The property has five houses, a salon, a stream, a little lake, bamboo forests, ancient pines, eucalyptus groves, armadillos, foxes, rabbits, giant lizards, boating, fishing, tangerines, guayabas, wild berries and a seemingly endless variety of birds, mushrooms and butterflies, – all set against the beautiful Santa Lucia River.
